Filter List Widget

Apps - Widget - Filter List icon.png This type of widget belongs to the EasyVista category in the widget library. Connected to an EasyVista data source, it enables you to display a list of dynamic filters selected among the filters Product name - ev itsm.png associated with the parent query of the data source.

  • In execute mode:
    • The filters will apply to all widgets in the app using the same EasyVista data source as the one defined for the Filter List widget, e.g. Dashboard widget or Data Viewer widget.
    • Users will only be able to see the filters they are authorized to access based on their profile.
  • The default filter in the EasyVista data source is automatically displayed in the list of filters and cannot be deleted.

  • You use the Filter List widget to enable users to consult Product name - ev itsm.png data using a list of dynamic filters and a Search Filter widget to enable users to filter the data using a dynamic search field.
  • You can combine these two widgets in a given app when they are both linked to the same EasyVista data source.

  • Run a search combining a Search Filter widget and a Filter List widget pointing to the same EasyVista data source.
Enter the keyword, failure, to search for incidents using the Search Filter widget (1). The Bar Chart widget and Data Viewer widget pointing to the same EasyVista data source will automatically be refreshed. Select the Open filter in the list of incidents to display only those that are open using the Filter List widget (2). Both widgets will automatically be refreshed.

DataSource

Data Source: External data source associated with the widget. 

  • The drop-down list displays all of the data sources available in the app. 
  • To modify the data source or to view its contents, you should click Apps - Edit icon.png. The Apps - datasources Properties - Preview button.png button below the Preview property shows the number of rows (max. 15) and columns extracted.
  • To define a new data source, click Apps - Add datasource icon.png Add Data Source in the Objects pane.

Filter List: Used to display the Product name - ev itsm.png filters associated with the parent query of the EasyVista data source. Click the button indicating the number of active filters for the widget and select those to be made available to users. Note: The default filter in the EasyVista data source is automatically displayed in the list of filters and cannot be deleted.

Auto Vertical Size: In execute mode, this is used to indicate if the height of the widget is automatically calculated in order to display all of the filters that users are authorized to access based on their profile (box is checked) or if the height of the widget is defined in edit mode and will remain fixed (box is not checked).

Display Type: In execute mode, this is used to indicate the display mode of the authorized filters. 

  • The default filter of the data source is grayed out (Horizontal or Vertical display) in the field or drop-down list (Combo display). 
  • On small device screens such as smartphones, the Combo mode is automatically selected.

Best Practice icon.png  In Vertical mode, select the Auto Vertical Size box to ensure that all authorized filters are displayed even if they exceed the height of the widget. The display area will automatically be resized.

Procedure: How to implement a Filter List widget

1. Define the data source for the Filter List widget using an EasyVista data source.

2. Define the Filter List widget.

  • Select the EasyVista data source that was previously created from the Data Source drop-down list.
  • Click the button located below Filter List, e.g. EVApps - widget Filter List - Button Filters Selected.png). Select the filters to be made available to users and click [ OK ].

3. Define the widgets that will display data from the data source. Link them to the EasyVista datasource you have created at step 1.

4. Switch to preview mode and check filters are working correctly to all widgets in the current page that are linked to the EasyVista data source.
