Note: This graphical user interface is specific to Product name - ev itsm.png versions later than 2016.

The Search Studio is used to configure the display of results for certain search options. Open url.png See Configurable elements.

Elements in the Search Studio are called meta-objects

  • Each one of them is based on a table and a parent query Product name - ev itsm.png.
  • They are used to configure the display of search results using fields in the parent query.

Search elements configured by a meta-object

  • List of fields displayed by predictive entry in the search field in the top banner:
    • Search for an object.

    • Call a Filter command.

  • List of employees ==> Display the asset tag, type, supplier and model
  • List of known errors ==> Display the known error number and manager
  • List of CIs ==> Display the name, type, manufacturer, model and status

Notes

  • The limitations below are applied to the Search Studio to ensure optimal performance:
    • Maximum 12 concurrent active searches
    • Maximum eight fields displayed in List mode
    • Maximum six fields for predictive entry

  • You cannot delete a meta-object but you can disable it in the dedicated wizard.
  • Run the Enable wizard to reuse a previously disabled meta-object.

Access: Administration > Studios > Search Studio

            
Main Table: Main table associated with the search elements to be configured.

  • Search for employees ==> AM_EMPLOYEE table
  • Search for equipment/CIs/licenses ==> AM_ASSET table
     

Query Name: Parent query used for configuring the search.

  • Search for employees ==> Reporting_Employees query
     

Fields List:  List of fields in the parent query.

  • Select a field to make it available for configuring the search. It will automatically appear in the Grid Display list.
  • Field Label: Name of the field in the database.
  • Field Name: Physical name of the field in the data model.
  • Display popup icon.png : Used to indicate that the field is indexed.
    • You must select one or more indexed fields.
  • Type: Type of field, e.g. string, integer, etc.
     

Display Setup: Configuration of the display of search results using selected fields in the parent query. Open url.png See Configurable elements.

Procedure: How to configure a meta-object

Step 1: Open the Search Studio.

1. Select Administration > Studios > Search Studio in the menu.

2. Click the sequence number of the corresponding meta-object in the first column # of the grid.

Step 2: Select the fields for displaying the search results.

1. Select the main table and parent query used by the meta-object.
The list of available fields will be updated.

2. Select the relevant fields in the parent query.
They will automatically appear in the Grid Display list.

Step 3: Configure the dedicated search results page for the Display popup icon.png Search option.

1. Click Grid icon.png in the Grid Display list to enable or disable the display of each field.
The field will automatically be added to or removed from the Auto-completion Display list.

2. You can click and drag the fields to arrange them in the order you want.

3. Click X to delete a field in the list.
It will automatically be deleted from the Auto-completion Display list and unselected in the list of fields in the parent query.

Step 4: Configure the search results displayed by predictive entry in the search field in the top banner.

1. Click Display eye icon.png in the Auto-completion Display list to show or hide the field name in the predictive entry search results.

2. You can click and drag the fields to arrange them in the order you want.

Step 5: Enable the meta-object.

1. Click Save.
You will return to the list of meta-objects.

2. Select the relevant meta-object.

3. Run the Enable wizard.
