Details tab

Profile Name: Name of the user profile. 

REST API: Used to indicate if the profile can access Web services provided by the REST APIProduct name - ev itsm.png (box is checked) or not (box is not checked). Open url.png See the procedure in How to define a REST API user

Master profiles: List of profiles authorized to assign the current profile to users. Open url.png See the example.

  • Click Edit icon.png to select them.
  • By default, only the profile of the current user is defined as the master profile.


(1) Modules: List of business modules for the active Product name - ev itsm.png license. Each module provides access to a set of menus.

  • Check the modules authorized for the user profile.
  • Logo - EasyVista.png defines a standard menu configuration for each module.
    • When you select or unselect a module, the menus associated with it will automatically be checked or unchecked respectively in the Menus section.
    • You can remove menus from the configuration.

  • Standard configuration: Operation, Administration, Integration menus
  • Custom configuration: Administration menu removed
  • Edit rights, i.e. the right to manipulate objects such as filters, views and wizards in the module menus, are defined for each module. Open url.png See the procedure.

  • Check the menus authorized for the user profile and configure them. Select the menu items, access rights, accessible objects (wizards, filters, views, tabs or sub-tabs), and information to be displayed on the Home page. Open url.png See the procedure.

Actions Properties of the sub-menus in the menu.
  • You must select the parent menu before you can make one of its sub-menus available.
  • The name of the boxes will appear when you move the cursor over them: Add (column 1), Update (column 2).
    • Add: Right to create records in all menu screens.
    • Update: Right to modify records in all menu screens.
  • The right to create records must be assigned together with the right to modify records.
  • The right to modify records can be assigned alone.
  • If the profile is only authorized to view a menu/sub-menu, you should not select any box.

Wizards Wizards authorized for the user profile in the Wizards list in List and Form modes.
  • If you do not select any wizard, the list will not be displayed except if the profile is authorized to assign reports for the wizards in the module. If this is the case, then only the Manage Reports wizard will be available.
  • You can also define access to wizards in the form if you are authorized to edit the display of the module.
Filters Filters authorized for the user profile in the Filter list in List mode.
  • If you do not select any filter, the list will only contain No Filter, which is identical to the None filter.

Views Views authorized for the user profile in the View list in List mode.
  • If you do not select any view, the list will only contain No View, which is identical to the List view.

Dialog Used to select the tabs/sub-tabs that the user profile can access in forms and to define their properties.
  • The Dialog option displayed at the top represents the form. If you do not select the option, the form will be displayed without any tabs.
  • You must select the parent tab before you can make one of its sub-tabs available.
  • The name of the boxes will appear when you move the cursor over them: Add (column 1), Update (column 2).
    • Add: Right to create records for the tab/sub-tab.
    • Update: Right to modify records for the tab/sub-tab.
  • The right to create records must be assigned together with the right to modify records.

  • Representation: Used to select the secondary form presentations authorized for the user profile instead of the main form presentation.
    • Click Edit icon.png to view one of the form presentations.

Procedure: How to create a user profile

Step 1: Create the user profile.

1. Select Administration > Access Management > User Profiles in the menu.

2. Select the method for creating the user profile.

  • You can create a new user profile.
    • Click Add icon.png.
    • Enter the name of the new user profile.
    • Click Save.
      The new user profile will appear in the list of user profiles.
    • Click Display popup icon.png to open the new user profile form.
  • You can also use a template.
    • Select the user profile template you want.
    • Run the Duplicate wizard (Note: Available only in List mode).
    • Enter a name for the new user profile and click Finish.
      The new user profile will appear in the list of user profiles.
    • Click Display popup icon.png to open the new user profile form.

Step 2: Select the master profiles for the user profile. Open url.png See the example.

1. Click Edit icon.png next to the Master profiles field.

2. Check the profiles you want and click OK.


Step 3: Select and configure the modules authorized for the user profile.

2. Click Edit icon.png next to each selected module.

3. Check the relevant boxes to assign edit rights and display rights. Open url.png See the description.

Step 4: Select and configure the menus authorized for the user profile.

1. Check the menus authorized for the user profile in the Menus section.

  • When you select a module, the menus associated with it will automatically be checked. Uncheck a menu to remove it from the selection.
  • You cannot add menus other than the predefined ones.

2. Click Actions to configure the items in each selected menu.

  • Check the menu items authorized for the user profile.
    • To select sub-menu items, check the box next to the parent menu and restrict the selection by unselecting the items you do not want.
  • Assign creation and modification rights for each selected item.
    • Check the first box Add to assign creation rights.
    • Check the second box Update to assign modification rights.
    • If the user profile is only authorized to view objects, you should not select any box.
  • Specify the Product name - ev itsm.png objects authorized for each selected item by clicking the corresponding button.
    • Wizards: Select the Wizardwizards you want. If you want to select all of them, click Wizards at the top of the tree structure.
    • Filters: Select the filters you want.
    • Views: Select the views you want.
    • Dialog: Select the tabs/sub-tabs to be displayed in forms. If you want to select all of them, click Dialog at the top of the tree structure.
      • Check the first box Add to assign creation rights.
      • Check the second box Update to assign modification rights.
      • If the user profile is only authorized to view objects, you should not select any box.
      • Click Representation to select the secondary form presentations authorized for the user profile instead of the main form presentation. Click Edit icon.png to view one of the form presentations.
  • Click OK to save the menu items.

3. Select the information to be displayed on the Home page of each menu authorized for the user profile.

  • Click Trends.
    • Select the trends you want.
    • Click OK.
  • Click Home Page.
    • Select the information panes to be displayed, e.g. schedule, trends, or news articles. Note: The information panes available are specific to the selected menu.
    • Click Up icon.png and Down icon.png to arrange them in the order you want.
    • Click OK.
       

Step 5: Save the user profile.

1. Click Save icon.png.
