The Menu Editor

Note: This graphical user interface is specific to Product name - ev itsm.png versions later than 2016.

Menus define the main Product name - ev itsm.png themes. They comprise a list of menu items displayed in the menu pane. Open url.png See the structure of the graphic interface.

  • Each menu item is the combination of a filter and a view. It provides access to Product name - ev itsm.png data in lists or forms.
  • Menus are defined by the administrator based on the profiles of users. Menu items are defined for a given function or for specific tasks, etc.
    • Assignment of mandatory menu items for each profile. These entries will appear to all users associated with the profile. Only the administrator can delete them.
    • Assignment of optional menu items for each profile. These entries can be shown or hidden by each user associated with the profile.
       

The menu editor is used by the administrator / a user (depending on its rights) to:

  • Select and sort menus and menu items in the menu pane.
  • Select the Product name - ev sas.png app for the Home page.
  • Add shortcuts to Product name - ev sas.png apps, Product name - ev Self Help.png procedures or websites.
  • Define favorites for the most commonly used menu items.
  • Create custom folders.

Notes

  • Access rights:
    • Only user profiles with edit rights for a given menu are authorized to modify the menu.
    • Users can only see the list of Product name - ev sas.png apps they are authorized to access.
  • Configuration of Product name - ev itsm.png menus by the administrator:
    • Menus and menu items are defined by Logo - EasyVista.png. You cannot create new ones or delete them.
    • You can disable a menu or menu item by removing it from the relevant user profile in this configuration screen or in Access Management.
      • To completely remove access to a sub-menu, you must remove access to each sub-menu item.
      • If one of the sub-menu items remains visible, the sub-menu will not be displayed. Instead, the sub-menu item will appear.
  • You can click and drag items to the position you want in the menu pane and modify their names.
  • The Home page icon.png Home menu item is always found at the top of the menu pane. You cannot move or delete it.
  • To minimize the size of a given menu, you can organize its menu items in folders and sub-menus.

  • When you create new menu items, they will appear at the bottom of the tree structure in the menu pane. Click and drag the items to the position you want in the menu pane
  • To access your favorites and shortcuts to Product name - ev sas.png apps, Product name - ev Self Help.png procedures and websites quickly and easily, we recommend that you create specific folders in the menu pane.

Screens description

Access:

The screen is made up of three zones:

  • (1) Tree structure corresponding to the tree structure in the menu pane.
  • (2) Options used to create folders, select and configure menu items, select the app for the Home page, etc.
  • (3) Action buttons.

The tree structure displays all menu items authorized for the user profile.

  • To expand or reduce all menu items in the tree structure: Plus black icon.png / Minus black icon.png
  • To select the Product name - ev sas.png app for the Home page: Click Home page icon.png Home. Open url.png See the procedure.
  • To add a menu item: Click Menu button icon.png Menu. Open url.png See the procedure.
  • To delete an item: Click its name and then click Trash icon.png (Note: Only for custom folders and menu items).
  • To move an item: Click and drag it to the position you want in the tree structure.
  • To modify the name of an item: Click the item.

Once you have saved your changes, the menu pane will automatically be refreshed.

Note: Click Reset action button to return to the original display of the pane.

Caution:

  • For a user: All the the menu items adding manually, shortcuts, personalize folders and favorites will be removed.
  • For the administrator: The setting of the mandatory / optional menu items defined for the profile will be removed.

The tree structure displays mandatory menu items for the user profile and the menu items added by the user from those authorized.

  • Home page icon.png Home: Menu item used to return to the Product name - ev itsm.png Home page.
  • Menu icon.png : Menus (main Product name - ev itsm.png themes). Click each menu to display the list of sub-menus.
  • Sub menu icon.png : Product name - ev itsm.png sub-menus. Click each sub-menu to display the list of menu items.
  • Entry menu icon.png : Menu items (combination of a filter and a view): Click the menu item to open it in List or Form mode.
  • Folder icon.png : Folders created by the user. Click the folder name to display its contents, e.g. Product name - ev itsm.png menu items (favorites), shortcuts to Product name - ev sas.png apps, Product name - ev Self Help.png procedures, or websites.

  • Click the app to specify the name of the shortcut and select the app page that will appear when Product name - ev itsm.png is run.

Action buttons

Reset: Used to reset the menu pane.

  • For a user: Its menu pane will be returned to the original display defined for its profile.
        Caution: All the the menu items adding manually, shortcuts, personalize folders and favorites will be removed.
  • For the administrator: The menu pane of the profile will be returned to the original display with the menu items authorized.
        Caution: The setting of the mandatory / optional menu items defined for the profile will be removed.
     

Save: Used to save the changes made to the menu pane.
 

Cancel: Used to roll back the changes made to the menu pane.

Procedures

How to manage the menu pane

Step 1: Open the menu editor.

1. Click Open menu editor icon.png at the bottom of the menu pane.
The menu editor will appear.


Step 2: Select the Home page.

1. Click the Home page icon.png Home menu item at the top of the tree structure.

2. Select the Product name - ev sas.png app to be displayed in the Home page. Note: Only the apps you are authorized to access will appear.

3. (optional) Rename the link in the Name in the menu field. By default, it is Home.

4. (optional) Select the app page to be displayed when Product name - ev itsm.png is run.

5. Click Update Link.


Step 3: Create custom folders.

1. Click the Folder button icon.png Folder option.

2. Enter the name of the new folder.

3. Click Add Folder.
The folder will be added at the bottom of the menu pane.

4. (optional) Click and drag the folder to the position you want in the menu pane.

5. Repeat the procedure from point 2 onwards to add other folders.

Modify a folder name

  • Click the folder in the tree structure.
  • Rename it.
  • Click Update Folder.
     

Delete a folder

  • Click the folder in the tree structure.
  • Click Trash icon.png next to its name.


Step 4: Add menu items.

1. Click the Menu button icon.png Menu option.
A list of the Product name - ev itsm.png menu items authorized for the user profile will appear.

2. Select the item you want from the Choose evSM Menu Item list.

3. (optional) Modify the default values defined for the menu item, e.g. name, filter/view combination.

4. Click Add Menu.
The menu item will be added at the bottom of the menu pane.

5. (optional) Click and drag the item to the position you want in the menu pane.

6. Repeat the procedure from point 3 onwards to add other menu items.

Modify a menu item name

  • Click the menu item in the tree structure.
  • Rename it.
  • Click Update Menu.
     

Delete a menu item (Note: Only for the menu items you added)

  • Click the menu item in the tree structure.
  • Click Trash icon.png next to its name.

How to add other items

Step 5 (optional): Add favorites, websites, Product name - ev sas.png apps, Product name - ev Self Help.png procedures, quick access commands.

1. (optional) Create a folder to access these items quickly and easily. Open url.png See the procedure in Step 2.

2. Click the items you want to add and specify the required information.

Favorite pointing to a menu item

a. Click Menu button icon.png Menu.

b. Select the menu item you want. Open url.png See the procedure.

c. Click Add Menu.

Link to a website

a. Click Url button icon.png URL.

b. Enter the name of the link and specify the URL.

c. Click Add Link.

a. Click ev SAS button icon.png Product name - ev sas.png.

A list of the Product name - ev sas.png apps you are authorized to access will appear.

b. Click the relevant app.

c. Enter the name of the app to be displayed in the menu pane.

d. Select the page to be displayed when the app is run.

e. Click Add App.

a. Click ev Self Help button icon.png Product name - ev Self Help.png.

Report

a. Click Report button icon.png.

b. Select the item you want from the Choose Report Item list. Then select the view and the filter you want.

c. (Optional) Modify the default name.

d. Click Add Report.

The report will be added at the bottom of the menu pane.

e. (Optional) Click and drag the report to the position you want in the menu pane.

The item will be added at the bottom of the menu pane.

3. Click and drag the item to the My Favorites folder.

Step 6: Save the menu pane.

1. Click OK.
The menu editor will close. The menu pane will automatically be refreshed.
