EV Reach - IT Process Automation Tutorial - Deploying Office 365 on Multiple Computers at Once

Objectives

Deploying Microsoft Office on multiple computers at once is a tedious task if you don't the right sysadmin tools. In this tutorial, you will learn to use EV Reach's Process Automation framework to install a software remotely like Microsoft Office 365.

Prerequisites

  • You will need access to the full version of EV Reach and its Process Automation framework. If you don’t currently own a valid license, you can download a free version of our remote access software on our website. The 15-day trial is free and no credit card is required.
  • The following will need to be prepared for the office installation before it can be deployed:
    • Create the Admin File for a customized Office installation
    • Copy the Office installation files to a network share
    • Use a EV Reach Scope Action to execute the installation command

Step by Step Tutorial

Step 1: Copying the Office setup files on to a test system

1. Insert the Office 2013 DVD into a system to build the MSP file on.

2. Copy the installation files to the desired directory on the build system.

3. Download the Office 2013 Admin Template files: http://www.microsoft.com/en-nz/download/details.aspx?id=35554

4. Launch the Appropriate admin template file for the version you are installing.

5. Extract the Office 2013 Admin files to the folder where the Office files are located.

6. Initiate the Office Customization tool with the command below.

7. Select the desired version you are going to install.

8. Configure the Office install in the manner for which you would like it installed.

9. On the Licensing and user interface section, make sure to select the option to accept the terms in the License Agreement and change the display level to basic or none.
The full display level will allow the end user to view/alter the install.

10. After the configuration has been completed and the MSP file has been saved, copy the MSP file to the Office Installation Updates folder.

11. After the MSP file is in the updates folder, copy the entire Office installation folder to a network share where users have read access.
 

Step 2: Creating the following action module for your Scope Action

1. Create the action.

Add \ Remove --> Execute Computer Action --> Processes --> Run a New Process.

2. Run a new process argument.
