Step by Step Tutorial

Step 1: Starting a new Scope Action

1. Go to the Global Management via Scope Action console.

2 Create a new scope action with the desired name and scope.

Step 2: Creating the Action Module

1. Under Execute the following Action(s), click on Add/Remove > Report Computer Property > Software Products

2 Choose the items that will appear on the report:

Note: You may not need to report on the full attribute set of the software product. It is always better to minimize the number of attributes to be reported so it creates a report that is easier to read. Instead of selecting All Products Information, select the individual attributes you are interested in one per one.

Step 3: Detecting a specific software product

1. Use the section called "Only if the following is true" to detect a specific software product or series of products.

2 Add the following condition: Add \ Remove --> Set Computer Condition --> Software Products --> Product Name

  • Condition is "Begins With" or "Contains" or "EQUALS" depending on the desired results.
  • The Desired Value should be the text that corresponds with the name of the product that is being reported.

  • This condition will create a report for any machine that has any version of Java 7 installed.
  • OPTIONAL - If a specific software product is NOT INSTALLED

3. If you wish to see a report of all machines that DO NOT have a specific software installed, set the Condition to "NOT ="
