   These tutorial is for demonstration purposes. Please test all Scope Actions before deploying them into production.


In this tutorial, you will learn to use EV Reach's Process Automation framework to create a new workflow with Scope Actions.

Step by Step Tutorial

Step 1: Adding a new Scope Action

1. Launch the Scope Actions Creation Wizard.

Select the Scope Actions module in the EV Reach suite.


2. Create a New Scope Action.

Double click on the Add New Scope Action icon in the main window or click on the Add New button in the ribbon bar.


Step 2: Defining Action Details

Set the Scope Action Name and Description as well as a Category.

Best Practice icon.png  Categories are a great way to organize your Scope Actions so you can locate them easier later.


Step 3: Defining a scope of targets

1. Select an Object Type.

  • Object types are AD Users, AD Groups or Computers (Both physical and AD Account).


  • Target Scopes can be defined in many ways. Take a look at this User Guide article for details on how to select the targets.
    For this example, we are choosing Computers in a specific Active Directory OU.


Step 4: Defining the actions

1. Create a new action module: Double click the Add New button. Enter a name and description, then use the Add / Remove button to add actions or conditions.

  • The Action module is where the actions will be defined.
  • Actions Menu items will depend on the Object Type that was selected in Step 3. See this user guide article for more details on the types of actions that can be performed.


2. Use the Add \ Remove button to define an action.


3. Add a condition to the action module by using the "Only if the following is true" section. For more information about adding conditions to an action module, see this user guide article.


Step 5: Finalizing your Worflow

Use the "What Next" screen to determine what report format will be used or if the Scope Action will be scheduled for execution.

1. Click Next: Run On Wizard Finish.

  • Run Now This will run the Scope Action with the configured scheduling options after clicking the Finish button.
  • Run Later This will tell the Scope Action to "do nothing" after clicking the Finish button.

2. Click Then: Re-Run Full Scope.

  • Keep on Running until all nodes are processed This will run the Scope Action at the scheduled time, but will only run on the nodes that it was unable to process on the first scheduled run.
  • Re-Run the full scope on a periodic basis This will re-run the Scope Action against all the nodes selected at the scheduled time regardless if the nodes were processed or not.
