EV Reach - Overview
EV Reach (formerly known as Goverlan) is a software-based self-hosted IT Remote Support solution. It is composed of:
- The EV Reach Operator Console: It is used to manage your users, computers and servers.
- The optional EV Reach Server: It is used to extend EV Reach services with centralized configuration, policies, auditing, gateway services, license distribution.
- The EV Reach Client Agent: It must be installed on every client machine that needs to be managed with EV Reach.
- The EV Reach Client Portal: It allows you to access your product installations at any time and to manage your licences, users and Cloud services.
Available tools with the EV Reach solution
- Process Automations: They are used to perform asset management, software deployments or detect network objects with a specific configuration.
- WMI Explorer (WMIX): It is used to access and control the information and settings on a remote machine by using Windows® Management Instrumentation (WMI) technology.
- Remote Control: It offers system administration and collaborative tools so IT departments can solve technical issues remotely. The Remote Control features a Task manager, a Command prompt, a File manager, a Chat system, Screen capture and video recording, Power management, Windows Auto-Login.
- Software deployment tools: They are used to view and report on installed software packages on a remote machine. You can also remotely install, repair or un-install software on remote systems.
- External Controls: They are used to extend EV Reach’s functionality by adding links to external programs within EV Reach’s interface.
- Automatic Inventory Collection feature (Note: Only available to on premise customers): The EV Reach agents will automatically report inventory data to the EV Reach Server on a frequency defined by an EV Reach Server Policy.
Overview of Implementation
EV Reach is a software-based self-hosted IT Remote Support solution. It is composed of the EV Reach Operator Console (used by technicians and system administrators), the optional EV Reach Server (used to extend EV Reach services) as well as the EV Reach Endpoint Agent.

EV Reach Operator Console
To get started, all you need is to install the EV Reach Operator Console on your machine. The EV Reach Operator Console can be used from Day 1 to manage users, computers, and servers on your internal network. No pre-configuration or pre-installation of client agents is required.
The operator console exposes all services of EV Reach:
- User & Systems Management via Remote Desktop Access
- User & Systems Management via Background Processes
- Global Process Automation (global configuration, software deployment, scanning and monitoring, reporting, etc.)
EV Reach Server
The EV Reach Server is not a required component for the EV Reach Console to function. However, it allows you to extend its services.
Install the EV Reach Server if you need:
- Centralized configuration and policies of the EV Reach implementation
- Centralized auditing of EV Reach operator actions
- Management of external endpoints over the internet (unattended or on-demand)
- Onsite EV Reach license distribution to operators
Installing my Products
How to Access My Downloads
You can access your product installations at any time through the EV Reach Client Portal: my.goverlan.com. Use the EV Reach account user ID and password sent to you during the creation of your product licenses.
Once logged-in:
- Go to the Licenses area
- Select the tab of the product you wish to download, either the EV Reach Console or the EV Reach Server.
- Click on Download this product under the Self-Service Area.
Installing the Operator Console
The EV Reach Operator Console runs on Microsoft Windows 7 ( 64-bit only) or Windows Server 2008 R2 and above. The default installation of the EV Reach console doesn’t have any external dependencies and you can start using it within minutes.
See Find out more.
Signing into EV Reach
When you launch the EV Reach Console for the first time, you are prompted to log in using your my.goverlan.com ID and password:
- Enter your login ID and password to sign in
- Select free the license when I close the program to acquire a floating license.
Once you have logged in, EV Reach will allocate a license for your product. If multiple licenses are available, EV Reach will prompt you to select a license:
How does License Distribution Work?
Your EV Reach account can be configured with as many users as you need. You can create Standard Users (only used to sign-in to the software and access downloads), and Admin Users (used to manage licenses and license users).
- Standard users can only use licenses that have been assigned to them.
- Admin users are authorized to use all licenses.
A license is allocated every time you sign-in to the software.
- If the free the license when I close the program option was OFF during sign-in, the allocated license is permanently bound to the operator login id and machine id. You must sign out from the product to release the license.
- If the free the license when I close the program option was ON during sign-in, the license is allocated only while the program is running. Once the program is terminated, the license is released and can be used by another operator.
Installing the EV Reach Server
The EV Reach Server is an optional component used to extend the control of the EV Reach services. The EV Reach Server runs on Windows Server 2008 R2 or later.
Signing into EV Reach Server
Upon the first start of the EV Reach Server, you must sign-in to associate your server with a license.
A server license can only be associated with a single server; however, you can create as many server licenses as you need in the EV Reach Client Portal. There is no additional fee for server licenses.
See Find out more.
Managing Licenses and Licensed Users
The EV Reach Solution is an on-premises offering and doesn’t depend on a cloud infrastructure to run. However, EV Reach licenses are distributed and managed from the cloud (for environments where internet access is restricted, we also offer an on-site license distribution service using a EV Reach Server).
The EV Reach Client Portal at my.goverlan.com is used to:
- Review and manage the licenses you own
- Manage the login IDs that can be used to access the software
- Review and manage license usage

Miscellaneous Information
The EV Reach Client Agent
The EV Reach Client gives EV Reach Consoles the ability to manage any device regardless of its network location. The client agent is very small, stable and secure. It is automatically installed and managed by EV Reach on machines within your organization.
See Find out more.
Logged-In Workstation Detection (fastConnect)
EV Reach has the unique ability to query the logged-in workstations of your users in real-time. Using the fastConnect technology, you can access a user's machine by Active Directory user ID only. EV Reach automatically discovers where the user is logged-in and presents you with machine information for quick support and management.
See Find out more.
Ports Used by EV Reach
EV Reach uses a set of configurable ports to communicate with endpoints and the EV Reach Server. To review the ports used by EV Reach, see Network Ports used by EV Reach.
