EV Reach - WMI Explorer - Using the WMI Instances Panel

EV Reach'sWMI Explorer includes an Instances Panel. This tool is by default hidden from view. It is only displayed once you query the instances of a class in the Namespace & Class view or when you execute a query in the WMI Query view.

  • To show the Instances Panel tool, open the main command bar and select Show Panels >> Instances from the main menu.
  • To set or un-set the Instances panel in the auto-hide mode, click on thebutton located on the panel bar.

    In the auto-hide mode, the Instances panel is minimized when not used and only appears when you place the mouse cursor over its tab.
  • To move the Instances panel to another area of the WMIX workspace, click on the panel's bar and drag it to the desired location.

The Instances Panel contains a result set of objects. The objects in the Instances Panel may be of different types. For example, querying the available instances of the Controller (CIM_Controller) class in the Namespace & Class view would result in an Instances Panel similar to this one:

Viewing an Instance's Properties

To view an object's property, either select it, right click on the mouse and selectProperties from the menu, or, simply double click on it.

Reporting a Single Instances Properties

To export the property information of a single instance, select it, right click on the mouse and select Report Properties from the menu. A HTML report of the information is automatically generated and opened using your default web browser. A report action always generates a HTML report in the default report directory which is configured in Options.

Reporting All Instances Properties

To export the property information of all the instances available, right click in an empty area of the Instances Panel and select Report Instances from the menu. A HTML report of the information is automatically generated and opened using your default web browser. A report action always generates a HTML report in the default report directory which is configured in Options.

Resetting the Instances Panel

To clear the Instance Panel, right click within the panel and select Clear List from the menu.
