EV Observe - Synthetic Monitoring Module - Creating Scenarios in Basic Mode

The Basic mode allows you to automatically record user actions without any user intervention. It uses only the algorithm of pattern recognition.

Notes

  • Before using the Recorder, you must at least set the path where the Visual Basic executable is.

Operating principle

  • As soon as scenario recording begins, all keyboard inputs, mouse movements and single and/or double-click actions are recorded.
  • You do not need to intervene. Everything is done in an automatic way while taking images.
  • Once the compilation is complete, the scenario is ready to be replayed in step-by-step so that you validate each of the steps. Open url.png See the Advanced mode.
  • If some changes are made during the validation phase, the scenario will be saved and recompiled. You just have to play it again to determine a new reference time.

Synopsis of the scenario

The scenario used in this example is the following:

1. Opening the trash.
2. Closing the trash.
3. Launching Excel from the shortcut located in the menu bar.
4. Opening a blank Excel sheet.
5. Entering the value "123" in the first cell.
6. Closing Excel from the cross top-right.
7. Confirm closing without saving.

Procedure

Prerequisites: Specify the Visual Basic executable path

1. Launch the Recorder from the Systray. Open url.png See the procedure.

2. Click Recorder Properties.

The default properties window will open.

3. Enter the full path of the Visual Basic executable in the VisualStudioExpressPath property.

4. Click OK.
 

Step 1: Start recording the scenario 

1. Click New.

2. Enter the name of the scenario.

3. Click OK.

Registration of the scenario begins.

4. Press the <F8> function key once the scenario is finished.

Best Practice icon.png  You can editable properties of the Recorder if the <F8> function key is in conflict with another function.

A progress window will open.

5. Click Stop Recording.

The scenario will be saved and recompiled.
 

Step 2: Validate each scenario steps using the Player

1. Launch the Player from the Systray.

2. Validate each Image action from the step-by-step mode.

  • The Trash icon was detected with an accuracy of 100. Click Continue to move to the next step.

  • The Cross icon to close the trash was detected with an accuracy of 95, higher than requested (90). Click Continue to move to the next step.

  • Continue in the same way to validate all the images detected in the scenario.

The script is completed and validated.

   If some changes were made during this phase, the scenario will be saved and recompiled. You just have to play it again to determine a new reference time.

3. Save the calculated reference time.

The scenario is ready to be scheduled during the day.
