EV Observe - Configure User Accounts
Each user in EV Observe:
- Is associated with a monitored company, i.e. a Certified Reseller (CR), an IT Service company, or a Solution company.
- Is associated with a role with rights to functions on the monitoring platform.
- Can be associated with a directory (SAML or LDAP) for authenticating access to EV Observe.
Roles in the standard platform configuration

Notes
- Only users whose role has adequate rights can manage user accounts.
- Roles are defined by EV Observe. You cannot add new ones or modify existing ones.

- Users cannot see other same-level companies or higher-level companies.
Best Practice
- Assign the No access role to users who have left the company. This enables you to remove access to the platform while keeping historical data on these users.
- To propagate the configuration of a group of Local user accounts quickly to an SAML directory, use the Convert function found in the Administration > External connections > SAML menu.

Screen description
Authentication: Method for managing users, i.e. Local or belonging to an LDAP or SAML directory.
- The fields to be specified depend on the authentication method.
Local authentication
- Last name / First name: First and last names of the user.
- Login / Password: User login and password for logging in to EV Observe.
- The login is the email address of the user and is used to contact the user on the EV Observe platform.
LDAP authentication
- LDAP directory: Name of the LDAP directory.
- The LDAP directory must first be defined in the Administration > External connections > LDAP menu.
- Prefix username with domain: Used to indicate if the LDAP directory domain should be prefixed to the user name (box is checked) or not (box is not checked).
- Login: Login of the user belonging to the LDAP directory used to link the directory with the EV Observe platform.
- Last name / First name / Email Address: ID of the user belonging to the LDAP directory.
- You cannot modify these fields.

SAML authentication
- SAML directory: Name of the SAML directory.
- The SAML directory must first be defined in the Administration > External connections > SAML menu.
- Login: Login of the user belonging to the SAML directory used to link the directory with the EV Observe platform.
- Last name / First name: First and last names of the user.
- Login: Login of the user used to contact the user on the EV Observe platform.
- The login is the email address of the user.
- The login is the email address of the user.
Associated with: Name of the company associated with the user.
CRM user: not used
Role: Role associated with the user, with access rights to menus.

- Once you have selected a role, the list of functions the role is authorized to access will appear.
Procedures
How to create a user
Step 1: Select the company where you want to create the new user

1. Go to the Web app.
2. Select the company from the company tree structure.
Notes:
- The selected company must be associated with a Box.
- You can create a new company.

Step 2: Create the new user
1. Select Administration > Application > Accounts in the menu.
2. Click Add.
3. Specify the information on the new user.
4. Click Apply.
How to modify a user password
Modify the password after logging in to the app
1. Log in to the Web app.
2. Click in the top banner.
3. Select your account.
Information on your user profile will appear.
4. Modify and confirm the new password.
5. Click Apply.
Modify the password from the login window
1. Access the app login window.
2. Click Forgot your password?
The window for resetting the password will appear.
3. Enter your email address and the CAPTCHA code displayed.
3. Click Apply.
An email for resetting your password will be sent to your email address.
