EV Observe - Reports - Activity Reports

Activity reports are reports dedicated to the sharing of information such as SLA data as well as the capacity of configuration items (CI) present in the IT infrastructure.

Each activity report:

  • Is grouped in a category depending on whether it belongs to the internal IT infrastructure of the company and its sites, or whether it belongs to a customer's IT infrastructure. Open url.png See the description

  • Is generated in a given format based on the template.
  • Can be sent automatically to a list of users at specific intervals based on the sending policy defined. Open url.png See the procedure

Activity report categories

ReportCategory_List

Category Description
Customer base for internal use Consolidated group of reports for the entire customer IT infrastructure shared with internal users based on the sending policy defined.
Customer base for external use Group of reports shared with each of the customers based on the sending policy defined.
Internal IT Group of reports for the internal IT infrastructure shared with internal users based on the sending policy defined.

List of templates

ActivityReport_List

Template Description
Capacity analysis Used to view hosts that are underutilized or overutilized and to anticipate saturation, i.e. maximum capacity attained.
Availability analysis Used to view the availability of the selected user services (IT weather) and hosts over a given period, as well as trends over the previous months.
Performance analysis Used to view the availability of the selected hosts over a given period, as well as the performance of associated services.
Checkpoint consumption Used to view hosts and associated services for the selected companies.
Live status Used to view the current status of services associated with the selected hosts.
User services availability report per day Used to view the availability of the selected user services (IT weather) and hosts over a given period, with daily values.

  • Report categories are defined by EasyVista.
    • You cannot add new ones.
    • You must select the category before creating a new report. You cannot modify it subsequently. Open url.png See the procedure
  • Templates are provided by EasyVista.
    • You cannot add new ones or modify their structure.
    • The templates available will depend on the report category.
    • The creation of a report will not lead to the creation of a template. You will simply be able to define its scope and use.Open url.png See the procedure

Note:

  • Activity reports whose visibility is private can only be accessed by their creator.
  • You can consult existing activity reports in the Monitoring > Reports menu.

Screens description

General information

GeneralInformationTab

   You select the report category when creating the report. You cannot modify it subsequently.

Title: Name of the activity report.

Created by: Name of the user who created the activity report followed by the creation date.

Upd by: Name of the user who last modified the activity report followed by the modification date.

Visibility: Visibility of the activity report.

  • Padlock open icon.png Public: Reports contain only public data and can be consulted by all users. 
  • Padlock close icon.png Private: Reports can contain both public and private data and can be consulted only by its creator.

Type: Type of report.

Caution: If you modify the type of an existing report, its current configuration will be lost definitively.

  • Reporting - Widget icon.png Widget: Reports for defining the scope of certain types of Dataviz widgets.

Note: The templates available will depend on the category to which the activity report belongs.

Fields displayed based on the template

  • File format: Depending on the type of report, activity reports can be generated in the following formats: PDF, XLSX, CSV or HTML.
  • Period: Period from which data in the activity report is extracted. Depending on the template, you may be required to specify context-specific fields, such as the end date of the period.

Company / Site

CompanyTab

List of companies and sites to be included in the scope of the activity report.

  • You can select multiple companies at the same time based on their VIP level (By category option) or you can manually select the ones you want from the list (By company option).

Hosts

HostTab

List of host categories to be included in or excluded from the scope of the activity report.

  • You can filter hosts by business impact, tag and status.
  • You can select multiple hosts at the same time based on the category to which they belong (By category option) or you can manually select the ones you want from the list (By host option).

example  Host categories: Wi-Fi terminals, cameras, printers, UPS

Note: You can only select hosts manually for the Internal IT report category. If this is the case, only hosts associated with the companies selected in the Company / Site tab will appear.

Services

ServiceTab

List of services to be included in or excluded from the scope of the activity report.

  • You can filter services by business impact.
  • You can select multiple services at the same time based on the category to which the associated hosts belong (By category option) or you can manually select the ones you want from the list (By service option).

Note: You can only select services manually for the Internal IT report category. If this is the case, only services associated with the hosts selected in the Hosts tab will appear.

List of user services to be included in or excluded from the scope of the activity report.

  • You can filter user services by business impact.
  • You can select multiple user services at the same time based on the category to which they belong (By category option) or you can manually select the ones you want from the list (By user service option).

Note: You can only select user services manually for the Internal IT report category. If this is the case, only user services associated with the companies selected in the Company / Site tab will appear.

Sending policy

You define the policy for sharing the activity report by specifying how and when it should be sent.

Procedures

How to create a new activity report

Step 1: Select the company where you want to implement the new activity report

1. Go to the Web app.

2. Select the company from the company tree structure.

Notes:

  • The selected company must be associated with a Box.
  • You can create a new company. Open url.png See the procedure

Step 2: Create the new activity report

1. Select Configuration > Reporting in the menu.

2. Select the category of the activity report, e.g. customer base for internal use, customer base for external use or internal IT.

3. Click Add.

4. Specify the information for the activity report.

  • Select the Reporting - Report icon.png Report type.
  • Select the template you want.
  • Specify the information required in the General information tab.
  • Select each tab and define the scope of the activity report.

Note:

  • The tabs available and the information to be specified will depend on the selected template.
  • The hosts and user services displayed will depend on the selected companies or sites. The services displayed will depend on the selected hosts.

Tabs displaying the table of categories:

  • Click - in the left pane to exclude the category.
  • Click in the right pane to include the category.

Step 3: Check the activity report

1. Select Monitoring > Reports in the menu.

2. Click Download icon.png next to the new activity report.

3. Select the relevant company if the category is Customer base for external use.

The activity report will appear in a new Web browser.

4. Select Configuration > Reporting in the menu to correct the configuration of the report if required.

How to define the sending policy for a report

Note: The methods available for sending reports will depend on the template.

Step 1: Select the report

1. Select Configuration > Reporting in the menu.

.2 Click the name of the relevant report.

The window for configuring the report will appear.

3. Select the Sending policy tab.

Step 2: Configure the sending policy of the report 

1. Select the language for generating the report.

2. Select and define the method for sending the report.

None
The report will not be sent to any user. It can only be consulted via the monitoring interface.
 

Email
The report will be sent by email to one or more internal or external recipients.

  • Enter the sender email address, the email subject and body.

  • If the report is in HTML format, add it to the body of the message together with the company logo if applicable.
  • If the report is in another format, add it as a file attachment to the email.
  • Select the customer contacts to whom the report should be sent.

Note:

  • Only for reports whose category is Customer base for external use
  • Each selected customer company will receive a report customized with the elements of their company.
  • Select the internal contacts to whom the report should be sent.
  • Specify the frequency, day and time for sending the report.

Best Practice icon.png  Click Send now if you want to send the report immediately. You can select the company individually or send the report to multiple companies.

Network share
The report will be placed in a shared folder and can be viewed only by users with the appropriate access rights.

  • Enter the path of the shared folder.
  • Specify the domain, login and password of the user authorized to access the shared folder.
  • Specify the frequency, day and time for sending the report.

Best Practice icon.png  Click Send now if you want to send the report immediately. You can select the company individually or send the report to multiple companies.

3. Click Apply.

The report will automatically be sent based on the sending policy defined.
