EV Observe - Network Analysis Widget

EV Observe - Widget - Network analysis icon.png This type of widget is used to display the top hosts or applications with the highest bandwidth consumption in the network. These are identified using their IP addresses (top talkers), data flows (top connections) and protocols (top protocols).

  • Identify bottlenecks in the network in a NetFlow or sFlow environment in order to optimize the quality of service and the associated SLAs

List of properties

Host/Service table: List of services associated with the NetworkAnalysis-NetFlow-TOPList or NetworkAnalysis-sFlow-TOPList service template (depending on the network traffic monitoring tool) and list of associated hosts based on the filters applied to the company.

Data type: Type of top list to display in the Dataviz.

  • Top talkers, for the IP addresses with the highest bandwidth consumption.
  • Top connections, for the data flows with the highest bandwidth consumption.
  • Top protocols, for the applications with the highest bandwidth consumption.

Widget header

  • Details: Used to display the details of the service in a popup window.
    Note: The data displayed is from the Details form of the service.

  • Minimize view: Used to display the top list in a grid.

  • Maximize view: Used to display the top list in a pie chart.
    • When you hover over one of the segments in the pie chart, a tooltip will display its percentage share of the pie chart and its absolute value.

Procedure: How to configure the widget

Prerequisites

   You must adapt the prerequisites depending on whether your network traffic monitoring tool is NetFlow or sFlow. 

1. Configure your network environment.

2. Deploy the NetworkAnalysis-NetFlow-TOPList or NetworkAnalysis-sFlow-TOPList service template depending on your network traffic monitoring tool.
 

Step 1: Add the widget to the Dataviz

1. Click and drag the Network analysis widget to the workspace in the graphic editor.

This will display all services associated with the NetworkAnalysis-NetFlow-TOPList or NetworkAnalysis-sFlow-TOPList service template depending on your network traffic monitoring tool.

2. Select the top list for a host/service you want to display in the Dataviz.

  • Top talkers, for the IP addresses with the highest bandwidth consumption.
  • Top connections, for the data flows with the highest bandwidth consumption.
  • Top protocols, for the applications with the highest bandwidth consumption.

  • Use Company icon.png and Children company icon.png to filter CIs for the current company or child companies.
  • Use the search field at the top of the Host/Service table to filter CIs by name.

 

Step 2: Configure the widget

1. Go to the Details form of the service by clicking Tools icon.png in the widget title bar. Next, select Details from the contextual menu.

2. You can run a control, add a maintenance task or modify the configuration of the service.
 

Step 3: Customize the widget

1. You can modify the widget title and add an image to the header.

2. You can resize and move the widget.

3. You can click Tools icon.png in the widget title bar and select Edit from the contextual menu.
