EV Observe - IT Asset Monitoring (Category) Widget

EV Observe - Widget - IT asset monitoring by category icon.png This type of widget is used to display the state of IT assets in an overview by configuration item (CI) category.

Examples

Uses

  • Provide an overview of the state of the internal scope or customer scope and monitor actions by topic (e.g. database or disk) or by scope (e.g. application, system or infrastructure)
     

Display statuses by CI category

  • (1) The host is displayed with a red dot, i.e. Critical status for the host.
  • (2) The status of the host is Status icon - Critical.png Critical for the Disk service: the service is non-operational.
  • (3) The status of the host is Status icon - Warning.png Warning for the Disk service and Backup service: the services are operational but require close monitoring.

Notes

  • This widget is based on a reporting that is built using the Host and Service categories template. You configure the reporting scope in the Configuration > Reporting menu.
  • The data displayed includes the visible scope for the logged-in user, independently of the parent company of the Dataviz.

  • Click Edit icon.png to modify the widget scope.
    Note : The data displayed is from the reporting configuration in the Configuration > Reporting menu.

Widget toolbar

  • Full screen icon.png Full screen: Used to display the widget in full screen mode, e.g. on a flat-screen TV.
    • Click Full screen icon.png Quit full screen at the top right or press the <Esc> key on your keyboard to return to the normal display.

Widget footer

  • Browse through pages using Previous icon.png and Next icon.png
  • Number of rows to be displayed in the table, using the drop-down list

Grid display

  • Rows in red at the top of the table indicate hosts whose status is Critical. These are the ones that require stringent monitoring.

  • The number of CIs (hosts/services) in error or whose status is critical is shown in the colored dot Status icon - Critical.png / Status icon - Warning.png.
    • The + symbol means that there are both services whose status is Critical and services whose status is Warning.
  • The list of CIs in error will appear when you click the colored dot.
    • A row in green means that the associated warning has been acknowledged.
    • A row in white means that the associated warning has not been acknowledged.

Functionalities of the table

List of hosts

  • You can click one of the hosts to display actions specific to the host.

  • You can click one of the hosts to display its details in a popup window.
    Note: The data displayed is from the Details form of the host.
  • You can click the Check option in the contextual menu of a host to run it immediately.

List of services

  • You can click one of the services to display its details in a popup window.
    Note: The data displayed is from the Details form of the service.

  • You can click the Last Check date of a service to run it immediately.

  • The Open folder icon.png icon means that the ticket is open for the service.
    • Click Open folder icon.png to see the details of the ticket.
    • For compatible systems, you can see the details of the ticket in the ticketing tool when you click View ticket information icon.png.

  • You can click the status in error to acknowledge or create a ticket (Note: Except for acknowledged services displayed in green ).

Procedure: How to configure the widget

Step 1: Configure the reportings displaying the overview for IT assets by CI category

1. Select Configuration > Reporting in the menu.

2. Create or modify a Widget type reporting built using the Host and Service categories template.

3. Configure the reporting scope by specifying information in the different tabs. Open url.png See the description

4. Repeat the same operations for each overview for IT assets by CI category you want to display in your Dataviz.
 

Step 2: Add the widget to the Dataviz

1. Click and drag the IT Asset Monitoring (Category) widget to the workspace in the graphic editor.

All reportings built using the Host and Service categories template will be displayed.

Best Practice icon.png  You can modify the configuration of a reporting scope via Edit icon.png.

2. Select the reporting you want to display in the Dataviz.

  • If the Dataviz is in public mode, only the reportings whose visibility is public will be displayed.
  • If the Dataviz is in private mode, all reportings whose visibility is both public and private will be displayed.
     

Best Practice icon.png  

  • Use Company icon.png and Children company icon.png to filter reportings for the current company or child companies.
  • Use the search field at the top of the table to filter reportings by title.

3. Click Validate.

The overview for IT assets by CI category configured using the selected reporting will appear.
 

Step 3: Customize the widget

1. You can modify the widget title and add an image to the header.

2. You can resize and move the widget.

3. You can click Tools icon.png in the widget title bar and select Edit from the contextual menu.
